Technology Facilitated Abuse, where mobile phones, computers and online accounts are used to track, monitor and control someone is incredibly common in domestic violence situations in Australia. Recent surveys show that technology is used as a tool to abuse in more than 70% of domestic violence cases in Australia.
Victims experiencing technology facilitated abuse often feel isolated and 'crazy'. Technology facilitated abuse is not just spyware, there are a wide range of ways someone can use to control and manipulate. Some of these are legitimate tools that are being misused. Our Digital Safety Audits are conducted by experts in digital forensics and cyber security, we look for spyware and at all the other ways someone can control your mobile phone or cloud/social media accounts.
Digital Safety Audits are conducted online so you never lose access to your phone. We work with you to understand what is occurring and to identify and capture evidence of coercive control. During the session, which lasts 60 to 90 minutes, we will describe what we are doing and why. If we find evidence of the compromise of your phone or cloud accounts, we will preserve the evidence in a format that is admissible in court. This is a critical step as we have seen far too many cases of abuse where the victim has taken their phone to a mobile phone repair shop and the well-intentioned staff damage or destroy the evidence needed.
If it is safe to do so, we will also work with you to secure your accounts and mobile phone so that your accounts and phone cannot be compromised in the future.
You can use the link at the bottom of this page to book your Digital Safety Audit with one of our experts. Bookings are for 60 minutes and will be over a Teams call.
